I know it has been a long time coming. I have undergone an endeavor that has already proven itself to be a challenge, and it is with great anticipation that I look forward toward the future. The opportunity to make efforts like this in this kind of timing does not come around often.
I have spent many hours in prayer and reflection. I have talked substantially with Tabitha. I have talked with Hayden, and even Aspyn. I have talked with my employer. I have talked with a few people whom have gone through similar circumstances.
I have heard from a reliable source that my state representative will not be seeking reelection in 2020. As a result I have decided to announce my candidacy for Iowa State Representative.
My campaign will be focused on listening to the voter, and upon election, the constituents. I have long felt that so often elected officials fail to listen to what is being asked of them by the very people whom hired them to do the job. My theme will be “Mark McHugh is Listening to You.”
I will maintain a focus on issues involving veterans issues, upholding 2nd amendment rights, mental health, and other concerns that voters bring to me. My focus will be on listening to the voters that will go to the polls, what their concerns are, and how I can help them. In Des Moines, I will focus on getting done what I am hired by the voters to do. Listen to them, and work diligently to make their lives better.
I have put together a website. https://www.McHughForIowa.com. Also, I have been working on a Facebook page, @mchughforiowa. The Facebook page should be live in a few hours. The website is live. In the event that a donation is made to the campaign on the website, there is an “Instant Townhall” feature that sends a message to me letting me know you made a donation and what’s on your mind. It is similar to the contact form, but takes a different path to get to me.
The footer of every page of this site has a form that will allow voters to communicate directly with me. I will not be delegating the duty of reading and responding to emails from voters to a staffer. That is my job as the candidate. It will be my job as the Legislator as well.
This endeavor has been a long time coming. I have been working a lot of late nights, and Tabitha has been great in working loose ends while I’ve been at work.
I sincerely thank each and every one of you as you have been anxiously awaiting this news. I have gotten numerous emails, text messages, and replies with eager anticipation. I appreciate each and every one of them.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and words of encouragement goes a long way. I am so excited to be undertaking this exciting adventure! I ask for thoughts, prayers, and good vibes. I appreciate all of it. Thank you, and God Bless Iowa, and my God continue to Bless the United States of America.
